Sunny Hundal and Ibrahim Mousawi: not quite the whole story
| March 15th, 2009Over at Pickled Politics a post on Ibrahim Mousawi’s banning includes the following addition from Sunny Hundal:

Which is a little peculiar. Let’s remind ourselves of the differences between Wilders and Mousawi:
- Wilders
- democrat, Dutch Parliamentarian, non-violent, creator of highly provacative ‘film’ Fitna
- Mousawi
- spokesman for terrorists Hezbollah (considered terrorists by the United States, Israel, Canada, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom), who says Jews are a lesion on the forehead of history and who was banned from French television for airing a programme repeating the medieval blood libel against the Jews and quoting extensively from the Protocols of the Elders of Zion. He was banned from entering Ireland on security grounds and has been banned from entering the UK.
It’s not immediately obvious that the two have much in common and it’s not easy to see why someone objecting to the ban on a peaceful Dutch Parliamentarian must also be obliged to object to a ban on a spokesman for violent terrorism. The distinction between the two seems to elude Sunny Hundal, who also claims:
The guy doesn’t head up Hezbollah, he edits a newspaper linked to them
Of course, nobody’s claimed Mousawi heads up Hezbollah – but he certainly doesn’t just edit a newspaper. He’s an antisemitic spokesman for a terrorist organisation.
Good take! Sunny really does take the oddest of positions at times. And he’s got a real talent for disingenuity.
There is a reason Dr. Ibrahim Mousawi is one of the most sought after academics/journalists in Lebanon , for briefings and dialogue, by visiting western delegations including former American ambassadors,European and international delegations and many others.
The reason is that Mousawi is solid in his facts, moderate in his approach, polite, respectful of the views of others (including a recent occasion in England when he offered his microphone and part of his alloted time at the podium to a ranting Zionist in the audience who falsely accused him of advocating violence.
The often repeated “Jews are a lesion on the forehead of history” was never uttered by Dr. Mosawi and you can trace that canard to the Zionist Lobby’s legman, Jeffrey Goldberg’s interview a few years back for the Atlantic wherein he defamed the Lebanese Resistance and Mousawi with his serial fabrications. Ditto with the claim that Mousawi was banned from French TV. He often appears on French and countless other Eurpean and International news and interview program.
Hear the man and judge for yourself.
International audiences invite Mousawi to speak for his intelligence, knowledge, openness, and moderation. It was England’s loss this time. Hopefully Jacqui Smith’s won’t repeat her recent error.

Mousawi is ‘solid in his facts, moderate in his approach, polite, respectful of the views of others’?
Well, Mousawi is a spokesman for Hezbollah. Hezbollah (or ‘Party of God’) has called for the destruction of Israel, has committed terrorist attacks on civilians and is a terrorist organisation with a political wing, much like the IRA in Ireland before the current settlement.
Mousawi was the producer of a TV series that was banned from French TV, partly for repeating the old medieval blood libel and which quoted extensively from the Protocols of the Elders of Zion. You may call that polite, moderate and respectful. I wouldn’t.
Goldberg says that Mousawi said that Jews were a lesion on the forehead of history. Mousawi denies that. You take that difference in the reports to be a proof that Mousawi, an apologist for terrorists, is correct and Goldberg incorrect. I suggest that says something more about your political sympathies than the facts of the matter.
As for calling Goldberg ‘the Zionist’s lobby legman’, why not just call him Jewish as an insult and be done with your pretend distinction?
In this this article in the newspaper Mousawi edits supporting the farcical Durban 2 conference in Geneva, the West is condemned for refusing to permit ’scholarly research’ about the Holocaust.
