Echo Beach - midlife crisis (cont’d)

I remember the 6th-form dance when I was more distracted by the music than by Dorothy Blundell.

It has something

Hotel Yorba

Following on from the White Stripes yesterday, I had to put this up too. I think it’s the only other one I liked off the first album

I suppose that makes me shallow.

Music from You Tube

I was reminded of this when I saw Michel Gondry doing the rounds for his latest film.

The White Stripes, Fell in Love With A Girl

Takedown

So, I’ve just received my first ever takedown notice. My view is that my comment was sympathetic, if anything, and simply linked to others’ extensive writings on the web about the company in question.

These others presumably haven’t received a takedown notice because they have enough money to go toe-to-toe with a solicitor (one of the others is a large newspaper group). I don’t have that sort of legal recourse and UK libel laws are notoriously protective, even of criminals (see Robert Maxwell and Jeffrey Archer).

Running with Ruby on Rails

Capo-Power on the Curriculum

The media alarm about urban youth gun culture is dealt with smartly:

They teach a load of stuff kids don’t need to know. They should be teaching them how to deal with life … it’s all very well telling me about the battle of Hastings and the Bayeux tapestry, but what am I gonna do when a bro’ comes up to me and wants to punch me in the face when I’m, like, eight?

Evolution in Georgia

Ben Bridges has been a Georgia State Representative since January 1997 and serves on Committees for Banks and Banking, Public Utilities and Telecommunications and Rules. He is an active member of the First Baptist Church in the slightly freaky Alpine Helen (a mountain community with a touch of Bavaria)- which we visited, incidentally, back in 2001.

1Gb RAM will never happen

In 1997, Kristian Thommesen mused that in 10 years time we would have 1Gb RAM in our PCs. Luckily, Scott Nudds was on hand to explain why it would never happen.

I’m typing this on a laptop with 2Gb RAM.
