Terrorists and Modern Manners

Former terrorist Gerry Adams has had an invitation to a shindig at the Victoria and Albert Museum withdrawn because it was felt he was not a suitable guest.

Coelacanth, Human, Herring

Noticing a post on BoingBoing about the coelacanth I half-remembered a suprising fact about taxonomy, looked it up and saw it’s true - the coelacanth is more closely related to humans than to the herring.

Coelacanth

Lobe-finned fishes (coelacanth, lungfish) are considered the ancestors of all four-limbed vertabrates and current coelacanths. Appearances can be deceptive. Now, I think I read once that fungi are closer to animals than plants. Must go check.

Welsh Office and fixed voting

Some visitors again from the Welsh Office (hello) and if they come back they might like to know I think I’ll have something interesting for them soon about a fiddled poll, waste of taxpayers’ money, corruption, lies and Benford’s Law.
